Sun and Moon Together hits shelves later this summer, and seems to grow to include a broader range of readers. The fun stays put, but added to the book is scientific information that older readers will soak up.

Dandelion's Dream by Yoko Tanaka

A gorgeous wordless story about a dandelion transforming into a lion who is able to do all the things he dreams of doing. The gray, white, and yellow illustrations are perfection. And oh, what a sweet ending!

This crabby ant finds himself lost in the desert, when a fly happens upon him. While the ant's grumpy ways are more than enough to shoo the fly away, he sticks around and wants to help the lost ant.

When the kids need to head back in for dinner they get all out of sorts because one of them is missing! Or is it just common sense missing?

I'm not sure if this is an honest review. Can I give an unbiased opinion if I am such a devoted fan of this writer? If Avi's name is on the cover I am going to: read it, love it, recommend it. So, you've been warned.
In his latest work Avi takes us from the shores of Rhode Island to the gold rush madness on the opposite side of the country. When Victoria's father loses his job he takes a leap of faith by setting off to find gold. Victoria's younger brother is allowed to accompany their father, but Tory is tired of sitting around like a proper lady. Disguised as a boy, Tory sneaks aboard the ship, revealing herself to her family when the ship is ocean bound.
Not really a story of the gold rush, but a coming of age story of a female taking matters into her own hands, finding true friends, and true power deep within herself, set against a backdrop of San Fransico's gold fever.
